Coopersville was in its heyday during the Edwardian era, (known as The Progressive Era in the U.S.), that exciting moment after the Victorian period but before World War I. 1895 - 1914 was roughly the period called the "Edwardian Summer" (some say it's only 1900-1910). The darkness and stuffiness of the Victorian era gave way to lightness and liberation. It was a time of exciting innovation. Cars, electric lights, aeroplanes, women's suffrage, everything was changing. Moving pictures, newsreels and travel opened up the world to everyday folks. For a reference of time period and style think "Downton Abbey" or "Titanic".
The Edwardian era was not limited to Great Britain, it hit the entire world by storm. It seems like everything was exploding with newness and discovery. Never did anyone imagine that it wouldn't last long, they had no idea that the horrors of World War l were right around the corner.
